Care Simple Linctus Paediatric Sugar-Free is a cough syrup that can help to ease a cough in children of all ages. It contains an active ingredient called citric acid which can help to relieve the symptoms of a cough, and its sugar-free formula makes it a winner with parents and children alike.
Why does my child have a cough?
There are lots of reasons why your child might have a cough, and usually, they’re absolutely nothing to worry about and will go away after a couple of weeks. However, many parents can find that their child’s cough can cause their little one distress or keep them awake when they need a good sleep, leaving you searching for a treatment that’s suitable for young children. Some of the most common causes of a cough include:
- A cold
- The flu
- Heartburn or acid reflux

Can adults take this cough medicine?
Simple Linctus Paediatric is usually not recommended for adults, as there are adult formulas which would normally be more suitable. Can I give this cough syrup to my child if they’re taking any other medication?
If your child is taking any other medication, you should speak to your doctor or pharmacist before giving them Care Simple Linctus paediatric. Some medications may not be suitable to use together, but a medical professional can make sure that you’re giving your child the best possible treatment.
How to take this cough medicine
Give Simple Linctus Paediatric to your child using a spoon or a medicine syringe, depending on which is easiest for you and your child. The doses you should use are:
- Children: One or two 5ml doses, 3 – 4 times a day
- Adults: Follow the recommended dosage given to you by your doctor or pharmacist
When should this product not be used?
Do not give Care Simple Linctus Paediatric sugar-free to your child if they are allergic to citric acid or any of the other listed ingredients. Please be aware that this product contains small amounts of alcohol, with less than 100mg of ethanol per 5ml dose. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist before giving this product to your child if they have an intolerance to some sugars, as this product contains maltitol liquid (E965).
Does Care Simple Linctus Paediatric have any side effects?
Like all medications, Care Simple Linctus can have side effects, although not everyone will experience them. These can include side effects caused by an allergic reaction, such as:
- Swelling of the face, lips, or mouth
- Rash

How to store this product
