What is Anthisan?

Anthisan is a treatment cream for insect bites and stings which can also be used to ease nettle rash. It helps to relieve itching, pain, and inflammation around your bite or sting, so it can heal naturally and as quickly as possible.

What happens when you get an insect bite?

If you get an insect bite or sting, you usually won’t experience any serious symptoms but will notice that a red, swollen lump will appear on your skin. This lump can be painful and itchy but will normally heal within a couple of days. You may have a mild allergic reaction to your bite or sting, making the pain and inflammation worse, but this should normally pass within a week.

How does this product soothe insect bites?

Anthisan contains the active ingredient mepyramine maleate, which is an antihistamine. Antihistamines work to block the histamine in your body that causes pain, itching, and inflammation following a sting or bite, relieving these symptoms quickly.

How to use Anthisan cream.

Apply a little Anthisan cream onto the affected areas of skin. Do this two or three times every day for up to three days. For best results, use Anthisan cream as soon as possible after receiving a sting or bite.

When should Anthisan not be used?

Do not use Anthisan if you are allergic to mepyramine maleate or any of the other listed ingredients. Anthisan should not be used on eczema or other extensively broken skin. You may feel drowsy after using Anthisan cream, if you feel sleepy after using this product do not attempt to drive or use any tools or machinery.

Does this product have side effects?

Like all medicines, Anthisan cream can have side effects, although not everyone will get them. These side effects include:

• An allergic reaction, e.g. rash, trouble swallowing or breathing, swelling of lips, face, throat, or tongue.
• Skin redness.
• Swelling.
• Itching.

If you experience these or any other side effects while using Anthisan, stop using this product and speak to your doctor or  pharmacist immediately.
