Murine Hayfever Relief Eye Drops is designed to act quickly and the effects of hay fever. It works by blocking the body’s natural histamines which produce the symptoms associated with allergic reactions, such as bloodshot, red, or itchy eyes.

What causes an allergic reaction?

An allergic reaction is caused when you come into contact with something that the body thinks is a threat. This then produces antibodies that identify an allergen that is harmful, though in reality it actually isn’t. These antibodies produce the symptoms often associated with an allergic reaction. Most allergic reactions are not life-threatening but some can be.

Who is Murine Hayfever Relief Eye Drops suitable for?

Eye drops with the active ingredient sodium cromoglicate are suitable for children aged from 6 years and above, as well as adults. It is not suitable for anyone who is allergic to any of the ingredients in the eye drop, which are:

• Sodium cromoglicate
• Benzalkonium chloride
• Disodium edetate

Murine eye drops are not suitable for allergic reactions not caused by hay fever, such as pets, dust mites, or skin allergies.

Can I wear contact lenses as well as use eye drops?

You should not wear contact lenses when using an eye drop treatment.

How often should I use Opticrom Allergy Eye Drops?

The guidelines say that you should put one or two drops into each eye up to four times a day. If you want to know what is best for you then speak to your doctor.

There are some side effects that may occur when using sodium cromoglicate based eye drops, though it is rare for them to occur. The potential side effects include:

• Blurred vision
