What is the Numark Triple Action Cough Solution?
Numark Triple Action Cough Solution is a medicine that is intended to be used to treat a cough, cold, or a sore throat. This medicine will soothe and warm the throat as well as treat a cough and the symptoms of a cold and sore throat. There are three active ingredients contained in this medicine:
- Cetylpyridinium chloride
- Benzoin tincture
- Capsicum tincture
Cetylpyridinium chloride is an antiseptic that will bacteria in the mouth and throat. Benzoin tincture is another antiseptic that is used as an alternative treatment for a cold. Capsicum tincture works as an expectorant that will help to loosen phlegm making it easier to move.
What causes a cough?
A cough is a common condition that can affect anyone. The main causes of a cough include infection, such as a cold, the flu, sinusitis, or laryngitis. Bronchitis, pneumonia, or an allergy can also cause a cough. Long-term conditions such as asthma and chronic bronchitis can cause a flare-up which includes a cough. Smoking and inhaling dust can also lead to a cough.
Who is this cough medicine suitable for?
This medicine is suitable to be used by adults and children aged 10 and over. It should not be used by anyone who is allergic to the ingredients contained in the medicine. If you are using any other type of medication, then speak to a doctor or pharmacist before using.
Can someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding use this medicine?
There is no evidence of any problems when using this medicine when pregnant or breastfeeding. Though, it is recommended that a doctor or pharmacist is consulted before using.
How should Numark Triple Action Cough Solution be used?
This medicine should only be used by oral administration. The recommended doses are:
- Children aged 10-14 – One 5ml spoonful
- Children aged 15 and over and adults – Two 5ml spoonfuls
Take up to three times a day. It can be taken at bedtime. If the cough persists after using, speak to a doctor or pharmacist for advice.
Are there any side effects?
There is a chance of side effects when using this medicine, though it is rare. If you notice any side effect, stop using and speak to a doctor or pharmacist as soon as possible. You can also record a side effect that you notice using the MHRA Yellow Card Scheme.
