What are Strepsils Sore Throat and Cough Lozenges?
Strepsils Sore Throat and Cough Lozenges provide relief from sore throats and irritating coughs caused by the common cold and nasal congestion.
What causes coughs and sore throats?
Coughs and sore throats can be caused by common viral infections such as the flu or a cold. Some bacterial infections can cause them too, such as Streptococcus pyogenes. Environmental factors such as dry air and pollution or lifestyle choices such as smoking can also cause coughs and sore throats.
How do Strepsils Throat and Cough Lozenges work?
Strepsils lozenges contain two antiseptic ingredients:
- 2,4- Dichlorobenzyl alcohol 1.2mg
- Amylmetacresol 0.6mg
These mild antiseptics kill bacteria associated with mouth and throat infections. The action of sucking the lozenge allows the active ingredients to cover the affected area, helping to lubricate scratchy throats and soothe pain.
Strepsils Throat and Cough lozenges also contain:
- Levomenthol 8.0mg
This ingredient has a mild local anaesthetic action to relieve pain and also relieves the symptoms of nasal congestion to ease coughs.
