Strepsils Sore Throat Pain Relief Lozenges for relief from sore throats with a mild antiseptic effect to kill the bacteria associated with mouth and throat infections.
What causes a sore throat?
Symptoms of a sore throat include:
- A painful throat, especially when swallowing.
- A dry scratchy throat.
- Redness in the back of the mouth.
- Bad breath.
- A mild cough.
- Swollen neck glands.
There are quite a few causes of sore throats. Most common causes include:
- Cold or flu.
- Laryngitis (inflammation of the voice box).
- Tonsillitis (inflammation of the tonsils)
- Glandular fever.
- Allergies.
- Environmental irritants (e.g. cigarette smoke or dry air).
How do Strepsil Lozenges help to ease my sore throat?
Strepsil Pain Relief Lozenges contain the active ingredient Hexylresorcinol which works to relieve symptoms of sore throat and have an antiseptic effect to kill the bacteria that can cause mouth and throat infection. This active ingredient also works as a local anaesthetic to numb the pain caused by sore throats.
When should this product NOT be used?
Do NOT use this product if you are:
- Are allergic to Hexylresorcinol or any of the other listed ingredients (see ingredients tab).
- Under 6 years of age.
- Intolerant to certain sugars such as fructose, glucose-galactose and sucrose-isomaltose.
- If you are pregnant.
Seek advice from your doctor or a pharmacist if you’re:
- Taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.
- Suffer or are suffering from any other throat problems.
How to take Strepsils Lozenges.
Remove the blister pack from the cardboard box. Pop one lozenge from the blister pack Dissolve one lozenge slowly in the mouth every 3 hours. Do not take more than 12 lozenges in 24 hours. Remember children can choke on small lozenges and do not give to children under the age of 6. If symptoms persist for more than 3 days or if they become worse, seek advice from your doctor.
Side Effects.
Like all medicines, Strepsils Sore Throat Pain Relief may cause side effects, although not everyone will experience them. If you experience any kind of allergic reaction, such as itching or swelling, discontinue using this medicine and seek medical advice.
Storage.
Keep out of sight of children. Do not use this product after the date which is stated on the carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month and the year. Store in original packaging.
