Covonia Chesty Cough Mixture Mentholated is a remedy that has been designed to get rid of those chesty coughs. The formula is designed to relieve the congestion and irritation that arrives when you get a chesty cough.

How Covonia Chesty Cough Mixture Mentholated works

Covonia Chesty Cough Mixture Mentholated works by using liquorice and squill which are expectorants. They help to loosen phlegm.

The product also contains levomenthol which acts to relieve congestion associated with chesty coughs and bronchitis.

Directions

Always take Covonia Chesty Cough Mixture Mentholated exactly as described in the patient information leaflet or as your doctor /  pharmacist has told you.

Adults and children over 16 should take 1-2 5ml teaspoons a day.

Children under 16 should take 1 5ml teaspoon a day.

The doses should be taken with a 4 hour gap.

Side effects

Like all medicines, Covonia Chesty Cough Mixture Mentholated may cause side effects in some people, but these won’t affect everybody. Common side effects include:

• Higher sodium salt and water levels within the body
• Allergic reactions such as dermatitis, skin rashes, flushing and itchy lumps
• Low blood potassium levels within the body which can lead to muscle weakness, confusion, disorientation and a irregular heartbeat
• Gastrointestinal reactions such as abdominal pain, vomiting and diarrhoea.

Serious side effects

Seek emergency medical attention if you notice any signs of a severe allergic reaction, symptoms of which include swelling of the face and throat, skin rash, breathing difficulties and/or loss of consciousness.

Warnings

Covonia Chesty Cough Mixture may be unsuitable for certain people. Do not use this product if you are allergic to any of the ingredients or if:

• You have any type of heart complaint
• You are an alcoholic
• You have breathing difficulties
• You have raised pressure in your head
• You have heart, liver or kidney problems

Using/taking other medicines

Talk to your doctor before using this product if you are taking the following:

• Carbenoxolone for a stomach ulcer
• Medicines which help remove fluids from the body such as water tablets

Age restrictions

This product is not suitable for children under 5.

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, you must ask your doctor or  pharmacist for advice before using any new product.

Storage information

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place out of sight and reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date, referring to the last day of the month stated on the packaging. Do not throw away any medicines via wastewater or household waste.
